Our Story

A hobby turned business…

From my early days fine artisanry in woodworking and crafts has played a major role in my life as it have helped unleash my inner creativity to the fullest, giving me the ability to think and create whatever I would think of.

For one who likes traveling and venturing the outdoors, the scenes of greenery and wildlife would leave one mesmerized. However from time to time we often see trees on mountain tops and forests cleared at a rate which is being logged illegally and in a way where much thought had not been put into prior to their actions. I believe that every tree has it’s purpose and in fact its up to us in order to make sure that once a tree has been cut down it is being purposed at its full potential which will gradually lead to a reduction in the rate of deforestation as we set our objectives to re-purpose wood over and over again.

Digging deep into the roots of our country to sum up, the Craft of Woodworking was a form of art that Sri Lanka was highly known and famous for Centuries. However due to the current changing urbanization, people pursuing these forms of traditional crafts are relatively less and becoming scarce as the upcoming younger generations have more modernized paths they wish on taking rather than pursuing these fine crafts that has been passed down from generations to generations.

The wood used in my projects are mainly salvaged and reclaimed wood. As a result it’s a sustainable and eco friendly option of timber that is well seasoned, naturally dried and aged wood which would give it’s end product a more solid feel to it while bumping up it’s value.

Reclaimed wood is wood that has previously been purposed and put aside, which can now be repurposed for the second time. Salvaged wood is a category of wood that has not been purpose and instead put aside as leftover wood from manufacturing purposes, offcuts of wood that did not reach ones requirement and timber gained from these that had fallen down by the cause of nature. For newer options of timber we go with lumber which has been FSC certified making it a sustainable option of new wood as it follows sustainable methods of cultivation rather than pure deforestation that wipes forests and greenery clean.

Therefore It’s up to us as individuals to spread awareness and make people aware of these conditions and options while leading them in the sustainable path for a better future.
